Flower Dome, Gardens by the Bay

Start cool and indoors before the heat builds. The Flower Dome is the gentler of the two conservatories — go here first, then straight into the Cloud Forest on the same ticket.

Cloud Forest, Gardens by the Bay

A 35-metre indoor waterfall inside a mountain of orchids and ferns. Take the lift to the top and walk down the aerial walkways — the mist runs on a schedule and kids will want to be on the bridge for it.

Satay by the Bay

📍 Gardens by the Bay East

Open-air hawker centre at the far end of the Gardens. Satay skewers, barbecued stingray and sugarcane juice — the cheapest lunch you will eat with a Marina Bay Sands view.

Marina Bay Sands SkyPark Observation Deck

57 floors up, looking straight down on the Supertrees you walked through this morning. Late afternoon gives you the container port, the Gardens and the CBD without full midday glare.

Merlion Park

The obligatory photo, best taken as the light goes. From here it is a flat riverside walk along the Jubilee Bridge back toward the Gardens.

Supertree Grove, Gardens by the Bay

📍 Marina Bay

Garden Rhapsody, the free light-and-sound show, runs nightly at 7:45 and 8:45. Lie flat on the lawn under the Supertrees rather than standing on the walkway — it is the better seat and it is free.

VivoCity

Ride the Sentosa Express from the station on VivoCity's third floor. It is the fastest way onto the island and the monorail view over the water is part of the fun for small kids.

S.E.A. Aquarium

Go at opening, before the tour groups. The Open Ocean tank — a single 36-metre viewing panel with manta rays — is the one everyone sits down in front of for twenty minutes.

Coastes

📍 Siloso Beach, Sentosa

Lunch with your feet in the sand on Siloso Beach — deckchairs, wood-fired pizza and fish and chips. The one Sentosa lunch that buys the kids an hour in the water while the adults sit still.

Skyline Luge Sentosa

📍 Sentosa

Gravity carts down a winding track, chairlift back up. Buy the multi-ride combo — nobody has ever done exactly one run. Minimum height applies for solo riders.

Palawan Beach

📍 Sentosa

The most family-shaped of Sentosa's beaches: shallow, netted, with the suspension bridge out to the southernmost point of continental Asia. Free showers to rinse off before dinner.

Wings of Time

📍 Beach Amphitheatre, Sentosa

Water-screen, fire and laser show staged over the sea at 7:40 and 8:40. Sit in the middle-back rows; the front row gets sprayed, which is either the point or the problem.

Singapore Zoo

📍 Mandai

An open-concept zoo with moats instead of bars. Head for the orangutan free-ranging area first — the animals are most active in the cool of the morning, and by noon everything sensible is asleep.

River Wonders

Next door to the Zoo and included on a combined ticket. The Amazon Flooded Forest tank and the giant pandas are the two stops worth queuing for.

National Orchid Garden, Singapore Botanic Gardens

Break the journey back south. 1,000-plus orchid hybrids inside a UNESCO-listed garden, including the cooled Mist House — small enough to do properly in an hour.

Buddha Tooth Relic Temple and Museum

📍 Chinatown

Five storeys of Tang-dynasty-style temple in the middle of Chinatown. Shoulders and knees covered; the rooftop orchid garden and its prayer wheel are usually empty at this hour.

Maxwell Food Centre

Finish where Singaporeans actually eat. Tian Tian Hainanese Chicken Rice is the famous queue, but the congee and the fishball noodles either side of it have no wait at all.
